Hanging on in there

I've been in a very funny place with my diet of late.

I haven't piled loads of weight on but I've not lost anything of any substance since, I don't know, October?

I keep losing and regaining the same 5lbs over and over again. It's doing my head in, as they say.

The trouble is... hmm.. what is the trouble? I'm not really sure, but I am acting like I am at 'target'. I keep losing the plot, mainly at the weekends, and sometime for longer. I eventually get back on the wagon, but the net effect is a roughly a maintain.

Slimming World worked really well for me (as in I could stick to the bloody thing) for about 10 months. I lost 4 stone! I was quite disciplined most of the time- eg- if we were at a motorway service station, for instance, I'd go to the trouble of finding as low a syn lunch as possible. Now, not so much. Now I seem to see anything like that, something which is slightly out of the ordinary for me, as a green light to be 'naughty'.

Me and my mum decided we were going to throw in the towel at SW, but I think I might have changed my mind. I feel a bit silly in fact for nearly quitting. I'm really scared that I will pile all the weight back on,

I need to sort this out, commit again and get to bloody target.

As an aside, I had a lovely dinner tonight! Desperately trying to get back into the spirit of it!

5% pork mince fried off with garlic, onions, mushrooms, tomato puree, turmeric, thyme and cayenne, Then added a little rice and pork stock (from stock cube). Simmered for a while.

Cut open some red peppers and stuffed them with the mixture and baked for 45 minutes. Served with roasted butternut squash and roasted courgettes.

Very simple, but really lovely and completely 'free' on Slimming World.

SW: 240lbs (17st.2lbs) BMI 35.1
CW: 185lbs (13st 3lbs) BMI 27
TW: 168lbs (12st 0lbs) BMI 24.6

55lbs down...  17lbs to go!

New Year

I'm not the best at this old blogging lark nowadays am I?

I weighed at home today and I am back down to 12 stone 13lbs! Yipee! (or bollocks, I'm not sure!). I've deviated a little bit over the last couple of months and have been faffing around. I put on 7 lbs over Christmas but this is mostly back off now. I've got to lose another 1.5lbs at Slimming World to be back at me pre-Christmas weight. I'm feeling a bit more motivated than I have in the last 3/4 months. I'd really, really like another stone or so off please!

We are trying for a baby however, so I might not reach target before. Who knows.

2014 was a pretty shitty year for me really. Despite having some amazing highlights- I got hitched for one! I have really been struggling with my mental health. I've never really suffered from depression but I do suffer really badly with anxiety, and last year saw a massive 'flare up'. I guess it's an achievement that I lost 4 stone with Slimming World, seeing as sometimes I was so on edge I couldn't stay for 'Image Therapy' (Slimming World's rather twee name for sitting around and clapping people!)

I hope that 2015 will see a return to anxiety free Plumptious, and that I'll finally be at target.

5 stone gone

This is by far the most successful I've ever been at losing weight.

I had lost weight a few times before. A few documented on this very blog, but after about 6 weeks (often less) the old habits crept back in, and back on it all went.

Today I am 13 stone 4 lb. I'm having real trouble actually understanding that I've managed to crack it this time! I'm comfortably in a size 14 to 16 and have days when I feel fab (and of course, days when I still feel like a chub). It won't be long until my BMI is 'healthy'. Bonkers.

Speaking of chub, this summer has been great without the chub rub. I remember having to wear cycling shorts underneath skirts a few years ago as the pain from the rubbed raw skin would be excruciating. My thighs well and truly still rub together, but no longer enough to cause a sweaty, chafing world of pain.

I have some way to go yet, hopefully around two more stone to lose, but I think I might just get there.

The key has been, and perhaps this is blindingly obvious to everyone else, PERSISTENCE. By this I mean, when I've gone off the rails a little I've drawn a line under it quickly and carried on as normal. Before, I would fall off the waggon and have an out-and-out binge. I would feel so wretched afterwards, and filled with self-loathing. Instead of rectifying the situation I'd eat even more to soothe myself. And on the rare occasions that I did try damage limitation I just went stupidly in the other direction, restricting, which led to another inevitable binge rather quickly.

This time (and I'm being tentative here, as I don't suppose all habits ever completely die), When I've had a 'naughty' weekend, I've managed to just get back to the basics of Slimming World as soon as I could, usually on the Monday. Most of the time this approach has meant that I have even ended up losing weight on those weeks!

I peeked in 2008 at around 18 stone 3 lb, possibly more as I couldn't face the scales after a while. I was in complete denial. I thought I got away with it because I am tall. I look back at photos now and can't believe I got that big. I'm really so very happy that I've come this far, it's been relatively slow, but I think sometimes that's best.

Here's to the next two stone.

I'm in the 13's!

I haven't seen them since 2003!

I can't believe I've managed to get this far if I'm honest.

I'm not obese!

Well, I never thought I'd be so pleased not to be clinically obese any more! Crikey, where did it all go wrong?! I remember I used to fret about being over 12 stone :-/

Anyway, let's not lament on how I got fat in the first place, point is it's finally coming back down.

I'm 201 lbs today (14 stone 5lbs). My BMI is 29. Another two pounds and I'll be in 'onederland', as our American weight loss buddies call it!

3 stone down, at last, and 3 to go!

One post every 7 months is fine, right?!....

I woke up thinking about my abandoned blog and thought, at last, I have a weight loss post to make that doesn't involve me explaining how I've not lost weight, again!

I've lost 2 stone since January (and over 3 since my highest weight in 2007) and I'm feeling really good. My BMI is teetering just over into the obese (grrrr) but another pound and I will no longer be in that dreaded category- hooray!

I'm the lightest I have been since late 2004. Nearly 10 bloody years. Wow.

And now comes the real test- carrying on. Every time I've reached new thinner territory within the past 5 years I've ended up sabotaging all my hard work and regaining. Not this time.

Rotund

Hello!

Goodness, 2 months have passed.

It was all going very well indeed, up until about 2 weeks ago...

We went on a lovely camping trip to the Yorkshire Dales, when I also thought I was in the early stages of pregnancy too. I'm not, by the way.

So I was into holiday mode, added with ravenous hunger from my phantom pregnancy, being a little chilly in the evenings (meaning hot chocolate and/or red wine, cake and dark chocolate, obviously).

I put on 5 lbs in two weeks. Which took me probably a month or more to lose prior to this. Ho hum.

This morning I received a wedding invite in the post for early November. It was from one of the friends from the town where everyone looks like they're out of Beverley Hills: 90210! The town where I grew up, the town that spawned a disproportionate amount of good-looking, successful, over-achievers. Groan.

I want to go, it will be nice to catch up, but I don't want to go like this.

I want to look nice, I want to look slim. I understand the two aren't mutually exclusive, but I'm sure you know where I'm coming from. Who wants to see a room full of old school friends whilst looking rotund?

I'm sure I've posted a blog like this before... yet still, here I am, repeating the same old rubbish.

Right, back to it. One day at a time. Track, track, track, blah, blah, blah...
